Soldiers Home Away From Home
Israel’s future rests squarely on the shoulders of its soldiers. Amiezer works to support these young men and women of the IDF who protect us, both in times of peace and in times of conflict.
Through our “Home Away From Home” program you can join us in providing accommodation, food, and clothing to pre-enlisted and enlisted soldiers in need.
The program was established for those from low socio-economic backgrounds, as well as lone soldiers with no family support in Israel. Many of these soldiers are either new immigrants, or orphans, or in some cases, from ultra-orthodox communities who shun those who choose to enlist.
The Problem
Currently there are over 7000 lone soldiers serving in the IDF, who have no family support, and very little finances to cover even their most basic needs. When off base for weekends, many go back to empty apartments with little to no furniture, an empty fridge, and no one to spend Shabbat with.
The Solution
By establishing “Home Away From Home” apartments we take care of their physical needs, and also give them practical and emotional support during their pre-enlistment, service, and discharge.
For an amount of $7000 we can provide a soldier with accommodation, food, clothing and toiletries for a year. This alleviates their financial stress and gives them a community and support system, where they can seek out advice or practical support in navigating life in Israel.
Currently, we have 7 soldiers living in the Home Away From Home in Alei Zahav. In the next year we plan to increase it to 50 soldiers, by renting 7 – 8 more apartments in different locations around the country.
How You Can Help
Annually, this project will cost approximately $350 000, which translates to $7000 per soldier. By donating this amount you can essentially “adopt” a soldier for a year. If this is beyond your means, you can also choose to become an on-going monthly supporter, or make a once off donation to help make this vision a reality.
By improving conditions for soldiers, you motivate young Jews from around the globe to enlist with confidence, and to serve with pride.
With their service, and your support, we can work together to secure a strong Israel and a more unified and secure Jewish world.
Notice: Test mode is enabled. While in test mode no live donations are processed.
